I thought I haven't read it, but then I remembered that there was a boy who didn't like his new stepmother after his mother died.
That's the start of it.
The rest is about how he escaped into the world that people are scary and not nice to little boy.
He was angry at his new step brother when he went into the forest. So, it is more of a story of how he see bad scary characters and tested his own goodness.
I fast read it a second time. It is not as bad as I've remembered it. So, 4 stars.
This is comparable to Lands of Stories. The problem with this book is that I didn't really like the boy David, and didn't have enough time to care about him before he ran into danger.
