The Finisher - David Baldacci

Vega is 14 living with her young brother John in a world with straight separation of class and sex.

Persons older than 40 go through a ritual and then kind of disappear from society.

The writer tried to create a world with mystery and magic.

There is a small door and it is like walking into another dimension.

Also, people were ruled by Council and Council lied to the people.

So, Vega found some magical tools. A chain that follows her like a puppy and could help her fly.

She also got a chance to meet the timekeeper and got through the door to see her past.

Interesting enough. Although the characters of boys are kind of mean. And there hasn't been a lot of other female characters of her own age being friends with her yet.
