Nick Stone last mission

Liberation Day: A Nick Stone Mission - Andy McNab

Nick Stone wants to settle down. He wants a passport so that he could stay with his girlfriend.

The girlfriend father is a horrible person who is using Nick on a mission and promise in exchange give him a passport so that he could stay in US.

The last mission is trying to stop money going to fund terrorists of the Taliban.

With a team of three, they are suppose to chase the money and then stop the terrorist act from happening.

There are a lot of not so good bites in the story. A lot of running around that is too details. It is supposed to be action but sounds like someone reading out a spreadsheet in Excel.

The last bit is okay but not great.

A 3.5 stars read. Still like Nick Stone as a character and might read another one.

Victor Frankenstein | The British Berliner

Amos Decker working on a murder and team up with Will Robie

Walk the Wire - David Baldacci

Amos Decker was sent to investigate a murder in London, North Dakota. A woman was murdered and was cut opened.

A local murder should not need FBI involvement. So it is very unusual that he was sent with his partner Jamison.

The clue is not easy to find. The autopsy report is incomplete and they have to interview witness to get some headway. A military station near by and a cult community complicated the case further.

The surprising thing is someone is trying to interfere with the investigation by getting rid of Decker. Who would do that and what is at stake.

The plot twists is there and Decker didn't have a lot of chance to use is memory too much. It is more about secrets. Who are keeping them and who know what.

Having two teams working together mean it is something big and dangerous.

Quite nice going.

The only downside is they didn't much chance to get to know each other more as they are too busy running for their lives.

Good read.

Enjoy.

It is really nice of him to do that.

Walk the Wire - David Baldacci

Will Robie just saved Amos Decker live.

This is fun to see two of the favorite characters meet in this one. So, if Robie is involved, it has either to do with a military secret stuff or terrorism.

Walk the Wire - David Baldacci

Amos Decker and Jamison are being called to go to North Dakota to investigate a murder.

A woman was found dead and she was cut up.

She was a teacher for a cult and moonlighted as a sex worker. It was a oll town when most are working for the oil company or providing service for them.

The investigation just got started and there is very little clue to begin with. Decker run into his brother-in-law who was here working and dating someone else. Family drama added to this strange investigation when neither Decker nor Jamison know why they are being called to this case.

So looking forward to this one that I have to go out and buy a physical copy.

Informative.

Nick Stone fall in love and walked into a war zone

Recoil - Andy McNab

Nick Stone was at a war zone doing a job. When shit hits the fans, the CO walked out and left some of the team mates behind.

Now he quit his job and travelling in Australia. Meeting a woman he loves and want to pop the question. Only she was running away into a war zone to be a doctor.

It was a mine and there was lot of money involved. The on-going fights involved the use of child soldiers. Nick was protective of children, and so was his former team mate Sam.

Now when he finds out his lover went to a dangerous place, he follows her.

Thanks goodness this is not a romantic novel. As there is nothing sexy or even kisses involved in this one. No relationship talk or such thing.

It was dirty, muddy and I could only imagine how the air or the person smell light after a few days with little water to drink, meaning no water for washing.

There is a lot of action involving guns and explosive. It is very satisfying that his guilt of not able to save a child earlier on get a second chance of having this child survived. The bad guys are the greedy persons with no regards to human lives. That's make all the different in a complicated situation involved that much guns and chaos.

Fun read.

Recoil - Andy McNab

Nick Stone is recovering from a bad mission and fall in love with a woman.

Too bad that they had a fight and she went into the war zone to be a volunteer doctor. He was just about to pop the question and was worried if he would ever see her alive.

So he got contact with his former workmates and go into the same area to see her and hopefully get her out of there alive.

This is pretty good escape book. The story is straight forward on the love front and very complicated regarding what's going on the war front.

Margaret Atwood: It's the Best of Times, It's the Worst of Times. Make the Most of It

Trying.

1. I have get to know and care for the persons I know on this site even if I have never met them before. This is actually new to me. So thank you everyone.

2. I don't like washing dishes. So I cook simple food with minimum amount of washing. After 2 months of practice, there is slight improvement. My diet is also more balance as I do the simple 1+1+1 formula, 1 protein 1 veggie 1 starch. It works for me.  My friend just shared to me that he would come out of this quarantine as a drunken master chef. Looking forward to be invited over for dinner when this is over.

3. One coworker shared that her skin is better because working from home means you could put on a beauty mask while typing on keyboard.  This give me an idea that I could try it myself or imagine what my coworker look likes if her camera is accidentally turned on during online meeting.

4. I got more time for sleep as there is no travel time for going to and back from work. I do work overtime accidentally because I failed to look at the clock and no one is packing beside me to reminds me to get off work.

5. Worrying a lot about how to live through this. Non-fiction books are being put aside and I go into thriller novel mostly. My comfort zone and escape.

Not sure how other people cope. So lucky that I got lot of physical books at home that I could read and keep me company.

When nice people meet.

This is a real thank you for the health care workers. This is so nice.

Quantum barrier and multiverse

Lords and Ladies - Terry Pratchett

Stones circle, witches dancing naked and barrier between dimensions.

Barrier between other world is thin in some areas and stones circles were put up as barrier for things to get through.

So when crop circles appear on unlikely places, Granny Weatherwax is on the case.

Young witch Magrat is dating the king of Lancre Verence. She is waiting for his proposal for marriage and surprised to find out he went ahead to prepare for their wedding without asking her. So, she is going to be a queen and learn about queeny things to do.

Really young witches of the modern variety wear black velvet and lace gloves. They have no respect for old witches that has no sense of fashion beside practical like Granny. They do things they don't understand like dancing naked under moonlight near the stone circle, which lower the barrier between worlds further.

What started out as a mystery going into an adventure, throwing in quantum and multiverse theory, adding witch and king and queen and bees and it is a fun ride of a story.

Enjoyed this a lot. Going to read the next one.

Lords and Ladies - Terry Pratchett

The barrier between worlds is getting thin in certain area.

And this is being explained by quantum theory, multiple dimensions and such.

Oh my goodness. This is so much fun.

The young witches are with the black candles and lace gloves. They did witch-y thing without really understanding it. So they made the barrier thin and there is gap between worlds. Elf are not nice and know how to glamour people. So when the barrier is thin, they could get to the human world.

And the wedding and being queen and king. This is not traditional way of thinking of things. Enjoying this so much but reading slowly.

Like this so much.

This sounds like fun.

Snakes and Ladders 2020 Edition

Reblogged from Abandoned by Booklikes:

RULES OF THE GAME:

Everyone starts on 1. There are two alternative ways to move forward.

1. Read a book that fits the description on the space number as listed below and you can roll two dice to move forward more quickly.

2. However, if you can't find a book to fit the square, don't worry about it. You can read any book, and roll one dice on random.org.  This is to ensure that if a reader cannot find a book to fill the square, no one gets bogged down and can't move on.

All books must be at least 200 pages long. Short stories count, so long as you read enough of them from a collection to equal 200 pages.

You do not need to hit space 100 with an exact roll. In order to win, you must complete space 100 as written.

Lords and Ladies - Terry Pratchett

Oh this is good.

Granny Weatherwax meet with Ridcully from Unseen University.

The writing is humorous as usual. There is strange magical happening with crop circle. And a witch is going to be queen for a very small country when she marry the king.

What can go wrong?

Enjoying this.

Another inspiration come with this home art guided tour for kids staying at home.
